COVID-19 information for students and employees

University Health Services continues to maintain disease surveillance for COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses to monitor trends and provide timely campus updates and guidance as needed.

  • If you experience upper respiratory symptoms, such as a cough, sore throat, or stuffy nose, stay home and test for COVID-19 using an at-home antigen test kit.
  • If you were exposed to COVID-19, follow the CDC’s respiratory virus guidance.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, review the CDC’s guidance on how to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses when you are sick. Wear a high-quality mask if you need to be around others at home or in public.

Prevent disease spread

  • Wash your hands frequently, especially after using the restroom and before and after eating.
  • Wipe down surfaces often including door knobs, counter tops, and other high-contact locations.
  • Wear a high-quality mask while around others inside your home or indoors public spaces.

Vaccines

COVID-19 vaccines are no longer available on campus.
Visit a local pharmacy to receive your COVID-19 vaccine.

All members of our campus community are encouraged to remain up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations. Vaccination is a highly effective way to prevent illness or limit the severity of illness. The FDA and CDC have approved and provided guidance for the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Students and employees who receive COVID-19 vaccination off campus are encouraged to upload their information to MyUHS.

Testing

Test for COVID-19 using an at-home antigen test and review the current CDC testing guidance.

  • Visit covid.gov/tests to order four free COVID tests through the mail.
  • Flowflex COVID-19 antigen tests are available for purchase at Badger Market (Union South and Memorial Union) for $6 per test.
  • Test kits are available for purchase at local pharmacies and retailers. Health insurers may cover the costs for antigen test kits. Check with your insurer for the most up-to-date information for your specific plan and confirm coverage before purchasing tests.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, isolate yourself from other members of your residence while you are sick. Current CDC guidance states that you do not need to isolate if you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication and your symptoms are improving.
